Privacy and security
In short We collect what Kin needs to work, never sell personal data, never ask for ID documents, and delete everything when you leave.
Proving you're human should never cost you your privacy. These are the rules we build by.
What we collect
- Account basics from the sign in method you choose, so you can log in.
- What you do in Kin ID, such as messages, mining sessions and rewards, so the app works.
- Device signals needed to confirm a real, untampered device and to stop fake accounts.
- A face template, only if you choose to become a verified human, as described in Proof of human.
What we never do
- We never sell personal information.
- We never share your name, email or photo with apps that use Kin OAuth or Kin Pass.
- We never ask for ID documents, home addresses or financial details to prove you're human.
- We never ask for your password, seed phrase or private keys.
You stay in control
- Choose who can see your profile and when you were last online.
- Chat anonymously in rooms if you prefer.
- Delete your account from settings at any time. Your data, including any face template, is deleted with it.
Security
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Face templates are compared in protected hardware, and selfies are deleted within seconds.
- The rules that limit each $KIN share are enforced in code every time $KIN is created.
- We plan independent security reviews before the token launch, and will publish their results.
