Business model
In short Kin earns from optional ads and sponsorships today, and from businesses using Kin OAuth and Kin Pass next. Never from selling data.
A company that protects people's privacy has to make money in a way that doesn't depend on selling it. This chapter explains how Kin Identity pays for itself.
Today
- Advertising in Kin ID. Optional rewarded ads, such as watching a short video to boost a session or earn a task reward. Ads are shown without selling personal information.
- Sponsored moments. Partners can sponsor challenges, rain and tasks inside rooms, reaching real people rather than bots.
Next
- Kin OAuth and Kin Pass for businesses. A free tier for small apps and communities, and usage based plans for larger ones. Proof of human saves businesses money on fake sign ups, fraud and moderation, and lets them stop storing personal data they don't need.
- Partner programs. Apps and brands that want to reach verified humans, with consent and without tracking.
What we won't do
- Sell personal information.
- Charge people to join, chat or mine.
- Fund operations by selling the Team or Reserve shares of $KIN.
Why this matters
Every app that pays to know its users are human makes the network more valuable for the people in it. Revenue from businesses funds the people, servers and safety work that keep Kin free for everyone else.
